Depuis 2007, le gouvernement Israélien inflige un blocus féroce sur la Bande de Gaza, ne laissant aucune denrée entrer ni sortir. Près de 6000 produits de première nécessite sont interdits d’accès dont les stylos, les médicaments mais aussi les matériaux qui permettraient à Gaza de se reconstruire. Ce blocus, combiné aux divers invasions et attaques militaires ont plongé les Palestiniens et Palestiniennes dans une vie faite d’incertitudes et d’insécurité quotidienne. Selon le Centre palestinien pour les droits humains à Gaza, « Israël a continuellement fermé les frontières entre la bande de Gaza pendant plus de 3 ans. La fermeture illégale de Gaza imposée par Israël s’est renforcée depuis juin 2007, et a un impact désastreux sur la situation humanitaire et économique des gazaouis. »
Le mois dernier, le bateau canadien Tahrir a vogué au côté du Saoirse sur les eaux méditerranéennes dans le but de contribuer à la lutte contre le blocus de Gaza et à l’occupation israélienne jugée illégale par la court internationale de justice. Certains de ces militants furent arrêtés, emprisonnés et maltraités par l’armée israélienne avant d’être déportés vers leur pays respectif. Ce traitement qui fait parti du quotidien des Gazaouis est inacceptable.
La CJP-UQAM vous invite à rencontrer Ehab Lotayef, Santiago Bertolino et Marie-Éve Rancourt, tou(te)s militant(e)s montréalais(e) qui ont pris place au sein de la Flotille pour la Liberté. Ils nous exposeront les débuts du projet de la Flotille et les challenges qu’elle représente dans un contexte de solidarité internationale et de résistance contre le système d’apartheid israélien, suivi d’un extrait vidéo de l’expédition et d’une discussion.
Joignez-vous à nous le mardi 13 décembre à 18H30, salle SB M250 du pavillon des Sciences Biologiques l’UQAM (métro place des arts). Une collation sera servie sur place.

Since 2007, the Israeli government has imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip, not allowing anyone to enter or exit. Nearly 6,000 basic products are not allowed into the territory, including pens, medicine, and materials that would assist in the rebuilding of Gaza. This blockade, and numerous military invasions have created a daily life of uncertainty and insecurity for Palestinians. According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (in Gaza) “Israel has closed the borders around the Gaza Strip for more than three years. The illegal blockade on Gaza, imposed by Israel, has been in place since June 2007, and has had a disastrous effect on the humanitarian and economic situation of people living in Gaza.”
Last month, the Canadian boat ‘Tahrir’ sailed alongside the MV Saoirse on Mediterranean waters, with the intent of contributing to the struggle against the blockade on Gaza, and the Israeli occupation deemed illegal by the International Court of Justice. Some of these activists were arrested, imprisoned, and mistreated by the Israeli army, before being deported to their respective countries. Their treatment, which is part of the daily life of people living in Gaza, is unacceptable.
CJP UQAM invites you to meet, Ehab Lotayef, Santiago Bertolino and Marie-Eve Rancourt, Montreal activists who were at the center of the Freedom Flotilla last month. They will talk about the beginnings of the project, the challenges they faced in the context of international solidarity, and resistance to the system of Israeli apartheid. This presentation will be followed by a short video clip of the expedition, and a discussion.
Join us on Tuesday December 13 at 6:30pm, in SB M250 Pavillon Sciences Biologiques at UQAM (métro Place des Arts). Snack will be served.
